Well-engineered laptops like the HP Spectre x360 14 with Intel’s fastest 11th gen mobile processors are addictive. The b asic configuration starts at about $1,170 as of March 2021. Pricing changes often on HP’s website but, as of March 2021, generally hovers around $1,700 for the Spectre x360 14 OLED (1 TB) config I’ve been using, which is competitive with the Dell XPS 13 and beats the M1 MacBook Pro 13. You’d be surprised at how many devices still have USB-A ports - and not everyone carries dongles around with them. HP includes a USB Type-A (old USB standard), which I’ve found necessary more than a few times. While the Spectre x360 14’s keyboard isn’t quite as good - due to the firmness of the keys and slightly less pleasing tactile feedback - as those on the more expensive HP EliteBooks, I type on it all day with no complaints. HP consistently makes excellent keyboards. And the Spectre comes with a good Bang & Olufsen equalizer, which I find invaluable. And HP’s is the best yet I’ve used on a laptop.įor a sub-15-inch laptop, the Spectre x360 14 has brawny Bang & Olufsen speakers: plenty of bass and mid-range and little distortion at high volume. Adjust power automatically to avoid overheating and battery drain. Automatically adjusts display color and brightness to ambient environment. An OLED beats an LCD in my usage scenarios (which doesn’t include gaming) any day of the week. Auto Color adapts to the apps you’re using to set the right color accuracy for browsing, photo editing, or streaming.
SPECTRE X360 14 FULL
In Zenbook 14 with battery life to last a full day and weighing only 1.15 kilograms at nearly half the price of a Dell XPS notebook, I don’t think you have to hesitate to buy this device.
SPECTRE X360 14 PORTABLE
It’s lightweight and portable without compromising on performance. The best display on a 13-inch class laptop I’ve used to date.Īnd by using a 3:2 aspect ratio, HP manages to squeeze the display into a design that’s less wide than the M1 MacBook Pro despite the latter’s smaller display (see image at bottom). The Spectre x360 14 is a better laptop for multi-tasking and for everday use on the go. The Spectre uses a big, very bright 13.5-inch OLED display that produces a wide color gamut, fast response times, sharp contrast, and highly-saturated, vivid colors. As a result, the latter is getting more appreciated by the wide public, and slowly but surely, it seems to be eating into the user base of the Spectre.
